In Pursuit of God's Perspective

I know your time is valuable,
which is why I appreciate you spending some of it here at Believer's Vantage. Our goal is to continue to assemble a comprehensive collection of materials to help you find answers. Do you have questions about God, about your life? I've tried to keep things in bite sized portions when possible so it's easy to grab and chew on. However, if you have more time there is much more to explore here at BV through the collected resources and links. And we will continue to add content.

About Us

My wife Teri and I were married in 1987. We have four children (all of college age) and two grandchildren. We have never been happier and are deeper in love with each other as every year goes by. Our family has decided to 'do' life together. We're in it together!

I started my spiritual journey as a teenager in a Mennonite family. I surrendered to God's wooing at 18 and was aware of a calling to ministry but wasn't really sure how to approach it. I had an experience with the in-filling of the Holy Spirit within six months of my salvation, which led me on a quest for more and more of God. Teri had little church experience as a child but came to Christ as a teenager. Over the years most of our church life has been in non-denominational settings. Most recently were on staff at North Pole Worship Center in the interior of Alaska. It was our honor to serve there for five years as associate pastors under Pastors Darryl and Pauline Carnley.

In July of 2011 I embarked upon an educational sabbatical to finish Seminary. Our church in Alaska sent us with tremendous blessing. Thank You!! We are so excited for this new focus and time of preparation as God continues to lead us into purposeful and meaningful ministry. I am finishing a Master of Divinity with Liberty University Online and also studying in residence at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Houston Texas. I will also be working on a few writing projects that have been haunting my contemplative mind. I want to thank Brett Jones, Senior Pastor at Grace Church of Humble, for providing spiritual covering for us while we are in this transitional period in Houston.

Teri has a medical background. She spent the early years of our marriage as a surgical assistant in open heart, orthopedic and plastic surgeries. She is a phenomenal nurturer! I'm convinced that without her by my side most people wouldn't pay much attention to me. Teri has tremendous wisdom and provides spiritual mentorship for many young women. She is constantly teaching me truths from God's word and challenging me to grow a deeper intimate relationship with Christ. Besides loving people, mentoring, teaching and pastoring along side me, Teri has been a director of small group ministries and church membership services.

Hmmmm
I spent over twenty years in the Air Force teaching combat survival and how to endure the stresses of captivity. Also, my undergraduate degree is in Psychology, so the battle of the mind and psychological stressors have always intrigued me. The Bible places a strong emphasis on the believer's thought life and how we combat ungodly thinking (Ex: Deut. 30:19; Ps. 42:5; 119:15; Prov. 18:21; 23:7; Mark 4:24; Acts 17:11; 2 Cor. 10:4-5; Rom. 8:5; 12:2; Php. 4:6-7). I have found that most of our time spent in ministry is helping people understand correct thinking according to Scripture. We experience failure as a result of unscriptural perspective and an undisciplined thought life.

Hence, the focus of this website is to gain scriptural perspective. This begins by learning Scripture (knowledge) and then applying it in our lives (wisdom). Ultimately, the goal is to walk as spiritually mature Christians. Teri and I desire to see the body of Christ fully equipped and able to do the 'greater' things that Christ spoke of for his glory and for the advancement of his kingdom...how about you?

Thanks for studying with us on this website.
We look forward to hearing from you and growing with you!

Love in Christ,

Cal Coblentz
